Tioga County Commissioners Address Public Safety, Human Services, and Community Priorities During June Meeting

TIOGA COUNTY, PA — June 9, 2026 — The Tioga County Board of Commissioners met Tuesday to consider a wide range of county business, including public safety initiatives, human services agreements, infrastructure maintenance, personnel matters, and community awareness proclamations.

Among the items approved and discussed were emergency funding requests through Act 13, including $12,500 for the emergency removal of an elm tree by Dincher & Dincher Tree Surgeons and $1,500 for deputy coroner conference expenses. The Board also considered Resolution R-8-26 establishing the county's 2026 CCAP priorities.

Commissioners issued proclamations recognizing Child Welfare Professionals Appreciation Week (June 8–12), Men's Health Week (June 15–21), and Elder Abuse Awareness Day (June 15), highlighting ongoing efforts to promote community health and support vulnerable populations.

  • Approval of 29 Department of Human Services agreements supporting children and youth services, early intervention programs, mental health treatment, substance abuse recovery services, and community transportation initiatives.

County financial reports presented for informational purposes showed:

  • May 2026 Payroll and Benefits: $1,524,773.36
  • May 2026 Accounts Payable: $3,480,639.89

The Tioga County Salary Board also considered reclassifying a Domestic Relations Judicial Line Staff position to Conference Officer and updating a District Attorney's Office position to MDIT/Special Victims Coordinator with an annual salary of $52,000 plus benefits.

The Retirement Fund Board reviewed management and actuarial service fees while receiving updates on retirements, rollovers, and membership service buybacks.

Meanwhile, the Election Board announced that final certification for the May 2026 Primary Election was submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of State on June 8 and noted that applications for 50-year voter recognition continue to be received.

Commissioners also reminded residents of the upcoming public data center meeting scheduled for June 23, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in Straughn Auditorium at Mansfield University.
